How to Install Halo Custom Maps
You will be making new folders.
You can name them how I suggest or
how ever you wish and where ever you wish.
On your Desktop, make a new folder, name it Halo Maps.
Inside this Folder you will make 3 more folders,
Original Maps,
SDTM v2010,
Skileto Mods.
It would look like this:
Desktop
Halo Maps
Original Maps
SDTM v2010
Skileto Mods
Now, download all the maps that are listed to be run in the SDTM v2010 server(s)
and unpack them into the SDTM v2010 folder.
Download the Map Installer program (SDTM__Original_Halo_Map_I0.exe).
Run it, select the Skileto Mods, and select the folder Skileto Mods for the install.
Run it again and select the Original Maps and install those into the Original Maps folder.
The map files you should have in your Original Map folder will be these:
beavercreek.map
bloodgulch.map
boardingaction.map
carousel.map
chillout.map
damnation.map
dangercanyon.map
deathisland.map
gephyrophobia.map
hangemhigh.map
icefields.map
infinity.map
longest.map
prisioner.map
putput.map
ratrace.map
sidewinder.map
timberland.map
wizard.map
Now if you want to play in a SDTM v2010 Server, you would copy the contents of “SDTM v2010 Custom Maps” to
“C:\PROGRAM FILES\MICROSOFT GAMES\HALO\MAPS” if you used the default Halo Install Location.
Note that Halo must not be running when switching maps. Also if you want to play in a non 238 Server, that is
what the “Original Maps” directory is for. You would copy the contents of that directory to the
“C:\PROGRAM FILES\MICROSOFT GAMES\HALO\MAPS” directory.
Restart Halo, it is not enough to just leave the game... you "MUST EXIT COMPLETELY" before changing maps.
You now have the maps installed and recognized by Halo.
Enjoy!
Also be advised the mods only work in servers that are running our maps, so
if you go into a non-SDTM v2010 server you will see all the portals but they won’t work,
also the weapons will seem Custom but are not, so you may be out of ammo and not
realize it. So if you are finished playing in the SDTM v2010 Server(s), and
are going to go into any other Clan Server, either install maps for that Clan or Original Maps.
Always "copy" and "paste", over writting the existing files.
You can make as many folders for different version of Custom Maps that you want.
If you play alot in another Clan Server, download those maps into a folder for that Clan.
Hope this helps you, enjoy...
Peace
